Abstract:
How neurons respond to injury is a complex process that involves coordination of
many signaling pathways. We established in vivo laser axotomy assay in C.
elegans. By combining live imaging and functional dissection, we have
characterized rapid cellular dynamics in response to axon injury and discovered
numerous axon regeneration pathways. In this talk, I will describe new findings
from large scale genetic screening (Chen et al., Neuron 2011; Kim et al., eLife,
2018), including a mechanism involving protein phase separation in axon
regeneration.
