Translational Medicine-Keith Tanswell Symposium

We are proud to announce that the Translational Medicine Program at the SickKids Research Institute will be hosting the Keith Tanswell Symposium and his Translation of Research on March 30, 2022, held virtually through Zoom. We are very excited to begin our call for abstracts: we will be accepting submissions until March 4, 2022 at 11 PM EST. You can submit your abstracts according to the submission guidelines found in the link below. Keith was a Neonatologist and Scientist - admired for his clinical acumen and possessing a truly incisive scientific mind. His research has been continuously supported by the MRC/CIHR for 35 years and he published prolifically (>170 papers over his career). National and international recognitions included Associate Editorships of Pediatric Research and American Journal of Physiology: Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology and two terms as Chair of the Respiratory System panel at CIHR. At SickKids, Keith was Director of the CIHR Group in Lung Development (1993-2009) and the inaugural holder of the Women's Auxiliary Chair in Neonatology. Keith was a pioneer in investigating oxygen-induced injury in neonates and made seminal contributions to the field of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) - not only with respect of identifying injurious oxidative pathways but also means to attenuate neonatal lung disease. Keith had a wicked sense of humour and never said no to a late afternoon at the local pub to watch rugby and talk science. He was a great clinician-scientist, colleague, and a dear friend.
