Abstract:
The loss of the integrity of the nuclear envelope membranes and/or the function of nuclear pore complex (NPCs) is a pathological feature of cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. Our work has identified surveillance mechanisms that act to protect the nuclear compartment by employing the endosomal sorting complexes required for transport (ESCRT), specific lipids and the autophagy machinery.
