Ramsay Wright Building, Room 432
Departmental Seminar
Abstract:
This workshop will focus on the academic publishing process at Nature Research, from manuscript preparation to peer review. Some of the stress researchers feel about submitting their manuscript for publication can be eased by knowing what goes on after you have submitted your work. We will cover some strategies and tips for manuscript preparation and provide an inside look at the peer review process at Nature Neuroscience, including initial submission, internal editorial review, peer review, rebuttals and appeals. Career opportunities in publishing will also be highlighted. There will be ample time allotted for questions related to publishing and peer review. Kevin Da Silva is the Chief Editor of Nature Neuroscience, and previously worked as a manuscript editor at Nature Medicine. Before joining Nature Research, Kevin was at the University of Toronto, receiving his BSc in pharmacology, PhD in neuroscience in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Sunnybrook Research Institute.
